Fuel pressure puzzler

I have a strange issue with my holly carb. If i run the fuel pressure thru my regulator anything over 2 psi, the engine will run extremely rich. it will even flood out and die at idle. At 2 psi it runs great even tho the reccommended psi is 5-7. any ideas?

Re: Fuel pressure puzzler

The carb could have an internal leak that stays sealed at lower pressure.

Re: Fuel pressure puzzler

Possible, but not especially likely. Fuel in the carb is only under pressure behind the needle.

Re: Fuel pressure puzzler

well i know its not a bad gauge because the reading on the gauge coincides with the setting on my regulator.
