Quadrajet = spread bore = economical day driver plus performance = GM's crowning design = no longer made but still very popular & basically, high level of support/parts still widely available = they are loved on this board because they still work great

Holly = 4 equal bores = known for great performance = many different designs starting way back through the current monstas made for racing = still in production = very popular / available = popular option if by-passing many or most of the original Camaro computer design features (commonly sold with turn key engines)

You'll need a throttle valve corrector bracket, and you'll need to provide means to lock up the torque converter clutch.

Re: Replacing carb

I have the bracket for the carb. Just need to get the trans lockup figured out.

You never said why you are doing this.

Why are you doing this?

You also need an intake manifold that accepts a square bore carb. Do you have that? The stock manifold does not accept a square bore carb.

Re: Replacing carb

I'm doing this because I rebuilt the quadrajet and still couldn't get it to run right. So I picked up a Edelbrock performer intake for 30.00 on ebay also got the carb on ebay for 20.00. I'm just trying to get it running good for now . For the summer I have a 350 I'm going to rebuild and put in to replace the 305. And it gives me and my son something to do together. We don't spend that much time doing things together much because we also have to little kids to take care of. So it's more of a father son bonding thing. He just turned 16 so he wants to learn about cars.

What is the quadrajet doing?

Not to beat a dead horse, but I really don't like seeing the best street performance carb system available taken off when there might be hope for fixing it.
