Double Pumper sent by mistake
I have a 5.0L/305 engine. I just recently purchased a remanufactured quadrajet carb, but they sent me a brand new Holley double pumper. It's a model 4150 750CFM. Would I be able to put this on my Trans Am or should I send it back? Which is better the quadra jet or the double pumper?

No, it won't bolt to your intake manifold. The fuel line is different. Your stock air cleaner won't fit. The TV cable connection is wrong (requires a corrector bracket). You'll need a different distributor, and your torque converter clutch lock-up will no longer function.
In spite of all that, for most street cars, the q-jet is the better choice anyway.
Send the Holley back and have them send you the proper q-jet.

Yeah I figured it was a dumb question anyways after I posted that. I need an electronic choke and the double pumper is all manual. It was just so shiny it caught my eye.

Re: Double Pumper sent by mistake
Holley sells an electric choke kit for them. I have one on my double pumper. Works with the stock wiring and it works great.
Square bore intakes are CHEAP for a SBC. A Performer EPS, for example, would be a great intake for a 305 and your DP would bolt right up. 750cfm may be a little big for a 305, but it would still work fine. Just have to have a little more finesse to drive it hard.

Re: Double Pumper sent by mistake
Quadrajet is probably the best carb from idle to WOT
transition when set up (RITE).
Harder to set up rite if starting from scratch.
750 more CFM than needed with a 305 unless motor
heavily built with good gears.
With the Holley 750 DP you have room to grow as to
displacement and adders.
Recommendation.
All around street and keep it like it is.(Quad)
Going to upgrade,Displacement, internal,bolt ons,ect,
Holley.
The Quad can do the same thing in different CFM ratings
but more knowledge required and harder to work on.
Gas milage also big factor if running a DP if that enters the
discussion.
