Fuel return line option help?
ok i posted a thread about specs on my fuel pump and someone told me mine should be putting out approximately 5 psi, which my edelbrock 1406 states should be able to handle up to 7, and i have an APFR set at 4 but it still wants to drip over sometimes when i leave the ignition on and the car isnt running. now my cars been converted from TPI to carb, so ihave the other extra fuel line not in use. can i branch a tee of and run a piece of hose to that extra line and finish connecting the back of the old line to the gsk tank to help cut down on the excess fuel pressure build up?

Re: Fuel return line option help?
You need a Mallory 4309 fuel pressure regulator, or some other brand that is a RETURN-STYLE regulator. Sounds like you are using the in-tank pump from the TPI setup, and dead-heading the fuel into a non-returnstyle regulator, which isn't working. The in-tank pump can produce up to 40psi - deadheading it into a non returnstyle regulator will kill the intank pump, as well as create too much pressure at the carb even with a fpr. The ONLY way any of this works is to use a return-style regulator connected to both fuel lines (the feed line and the return line). This enables the fuel pump to pump all it wants to pump, and the excess is sent back to the tank via the return line.
I know these regulators are $90, but it's really the only way and thus why they can get $90 a piece for them - if there were another way, no one would make and sell a return-style regulator. We've all done it, and we all had to use the expensive return-style regulator.
If you simply add a T fitting to the feed line before the regulator you have and connect the T to the return line, there's no telling what kinda mess you'll end up with. Swapping to carb and using the in-tank pump has been done for years on these cars - trust me, if there were another way, you'd see a BIG STICKY on the subject above.
