I've been working on rebuilding my q-jet for the last couple of weeks, and following the thread by naf: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/carb...-ccc-qjet.html which has been very helpful. I just have one issue I'm stuck on. I'm not sure which piece was used as the tps actuator pin that sits on top of the tps. The rebuild kit that I bought doesn't label or explain the pieces that it came with.. I was able to find a place for most of the pieces, but I have a picture here of the parts that are left over so far. I'm sure the o-ring is for something else.. On the right side of the picture is the tps and a small steel/aluminum piece that I found in the carb cleaner after soaking it.. this piece fits nicely over the button on the tps, so I thought it might be the right part (but its not in very good shape). There is a bronze piece that came with the kit that looks very similar, but it doesnt fit onto the tps. The tps pin that naf shows in his thread looks a lot longer than either of these pieces.. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what I can use for this. The carb is a 17083204. Thank you!

 

None of those. Check your airhorn, it may still be in the little slot. They're usually a green, solid piece. The rebuild kit wouldn't have come with a new one. If you've lost it and need a replacement PM me your address. I've probably got a few spares somewhere around.

 

Yeah, I tried to keep everything together but I must have lost it. I have to head back to college next week so i was hoping to get the thing back together by then. Would there be a way to fabricate something that would work if I used the correct length and diameter? If it's just a solid chunk of rod I could probably find the core of a welding rod or something like that to put in there.. any thoughts on that?

 

Should work. The rod's 3/4" long and needs to be thick enough to fit well in the opening on the airhorn. If you have to, you can run temporarily without one. The ecm will keep the timing conservative and the TCC won't want to unlock with throttle change.
