Tune port to carb. question
Tune port to carb. question
Hey,
im doing the swap from to port to carb. and i saw the technical link and page about it,but my question is (not being to electrically knowledgable) would anything change if i was doing the whole engine swap. Ive got a 87 camaro with a 305 tune port and im planning on buying a 350 carburated late 80s complete truck engine.its also got a 700R4 tranny. ive done engine swap before but that was in a 98 saturn and didnt switch engines just got a new one. also would it be better to take the tranny out with the engine or leave it in and try to re aline it when putting it back in?
thanks

There are basically no external differences between a 305 and 350 (year-to-year differences, but not 305 to 350 within basic year ranges). So, no, there wouldn't be any differences because you're putting a different engine in.
Opinions vary, but I prefer pulling engine and transmission together, especially if both are being changed. If you will be reusing your current transmission, then it could be argued that leaving it in the car is easier (especially if you have a really long extension to get at those bell housing bolts from underneath the car).
