q-jet carb bolts

Hi guys. I picked up a 83 TA last summer and did all kinds of maintenance on it to get it back to running well. One thing I noticed was that the bolts going down through the carb into the manifold were constantly loosening back up. I'd snug them up good and a couple weeks later they would be kind of loose again. Not ideal for mixture I would assume. It's been sitting most of the winter and as the temp warms and snow melts I'll be getting her out on the street again sooooo...

My question is...what is the best recommendation for getting them to stay tight? I'm thinking blue loctite (non-permanent) would be the best solution but I wanted to double check.
Actually I'm having the same problem with valve cover bolts so your best recommendation for those as well.

Thanks!

Do you have washers under the bolts?

At the moment, I don't recall. Should there be? Or not? Certain thickness for certain length bolt? give me all the details.

You need a flat washer to protect the air horn from distortion and galling. A lock washer between the flat washer and bolt head tends to help keep the bolts tight.

Re: q-jet carb bolts

Cool. Thx. Any min/max on the washer size for optimum prevention of warping?
An additional question: the rubber that the air cleaner cover is seated on is mostly rotten away. What is the name for the seal at that spot? Easy to get?
