Throttle cable doesnt have enough throw.
So when i was adjusting my TV cable i noticed that my carb wasn't opening all the way when i floored my car. It seems like the pedal doesn't have enough throw to open the secondaries all the way. I'm running a holley 700 DP with the throttle/kickdown bracket.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Chas

You said "throttle/kick down bracket" (technically, it isn't a "kick down").
Did you use the geometry corrector bracket that bolts to the carb throttle arm itself?

Is this the corrector your talking about?: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-700202/
I dont have enough throw for my throttle/gas pedal not the throttle valve.
I might be missing something here....

Re: Throttle cable doesnt have enough throw.
You'll have to fab up a piece to move the bracket back. I bought an aftermarket TV cable bracket and throttle cable bracket. I had to use some plate steel and move the bracket so it would have enough pull.

Understood, just pointing out another problem that is often overlooked.

Its not the carb because i can open the secondarys at WOT by moving the throttle plate.

Where are you mounting the throttle cable on the throttle arm?

The marker is pointing to the spot. This is not the carb on my car but another that i have. I'm up at school so I can't take a pic of the carb on the car.

The TV cable is connected to the furthest bottom hole.

I was reading one of my holley rebuild books and it says to bend the connecting rod that engages the secondaries slightly to be sure they open all the way. How much should i bend it?

Enough so that the primaries and secondaries are open fully, when you are opening the throttle arm by hand. You don't do that to make up for insufficient cable travel.
Speaking of the cable, you might want to check for a collapsed housing or failing cable wire.

They already open fully by hand. Where is the housing under the dash at the top of the pedal?

If they both open completely by hand, then don't touch that secondary link.
The throttle cable housing is all visible in the engine compartment. The cable is hooked to the pedal above the pivot point - you have to remove the panel under the steering column to see it (assuming your panel is installed).

Re: Throttle cable doesnt have enough throw.
Fixed my throw problem...there wasn't any adjustments that I could make to the pedal or the cable. I just grabbed the bottom of the pedal and bent it up a bit no prob now.

Re: Throttle cable doesnt have enough throw.
You could have just cut a piece of steel like I did and move the bracket back.

Re: Throttle cable doesnt have enough throw.
thats was i was gonna suggest, the pedal lever being bent. i have a cool story about that. i let a buddy drive my drag car and he stomped the pedal so hard he bent the bracket.
