urgent help!!!!

i have a 305 carbed that just died on me when driving home. I ran fine but as soon as i put gas and drove off it died. I know it wasn't the gas so i got a spark plug tester and checked for spark since the carb was giving out fuel. The coil has power because it gets warm and even tryed a new coil but no spark. could it be the wires that just died suddendly or the distributor died? its an accel distributer. I need help because this is my only car and gotta have it running by monday.

Re: urgent help!!!!

Is the engine cranking? If it is and you have power to the coil but no spark out, check the rotor. I had one fall apart on me 2 weeks ago.

Re: urgent help!!!!

You can check the pick up coil, unplug it from the ignition module and check for continuity from the pins in the connector to the dist. body. If you have continuity to the body the coil is bad, also check for resistance between the pins, you should have 500 to 1500 ohms. You can check the ignition module, but I'm not sure how, you might be able to take it to a parts house and see if they can check it. If you didn't when you had the coil out check the little button deal that goes to the rotor and make sure it isn't broken.
