This is a pretty common question. Not only is it common on this site but in general. The answer only took a few seconds to get using the search function on this site and on Google.

rose, welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
I moved your posts and the responses from the thread you posted in because they weren't directly related to that thread. We appreciate keeping threads on-topic, and searching before posting.
In the "welcome to the carburetor forum" sticky in the top section of this (the Carburetor forum) is a link to a tech article on the conversion. Be advised it is not emissions legal for a street driven car in any of the 50 United States (and it doesn't matter whether or not it is inspected or tested where you live). For the record.

Re: TPI to carb
I just got done doing this swap on my IROC a few months ago. The article is good, but a lot of the details aren't there. Here are some tips I would offer...
1) Get the TCI linkage corrector bracket for the Holley carb.
2) Avoid the Mr. Gasket throttle bracket like the plague! It is a POS that I invested way too much time in. I was trying to save$. Get the CSR bracket. If you push both connectors (for the throttle and the TV cable) to the back of the bracket, your stock cables will work. I bought a Mr. Gasket swivel mount for the carb an hooked my TPI throttle cable up using that.
3) Get a reproduction corvette L88 drop base air cleaner. With this and a 3" element, my Air Gap manifold JUST fit under the stock hood. I have since adapted the stock air inlet to this drop base air cleaner so I can pull in colder outside air.
4) Don't forget about your fans and your torque converter lock-up function.
5) For a reasonably priced distributor that is compatible with the roller cam, I went with the GM Performance HEI. It has a good advance curve and a good vacuum canister. The only change I made was to add one lighter spring to bring all the mechanical advance in by 2800RPM.

Re: TPI to carb
nope state laws, there are federal emissions requirements, but the legality of a vehicles emission is covered state by state. Indiana has zero emissions requirements. In fact we have very few laws concerning what is and isn't street legal in Indiana. One of the few great things about living here. there are no bumper height laws, no exhaust noise laws. Basically if its plated and has lights here you can drive it on the street. Saw a guy with a geo storm the other day with a supercharged 383 stroker, basically a tube chassis car it was 100% street legal in my state

Not true. The requirements are Federal, but the enforcement is left up to the states. The EPA decides based on air quality how much action each state has to take to ensure compliance to the requirements.
