Quick fuel , Proform , Demon or Holley? Which is the best?
Quick fuel , Proform , Demon or Holley? Which is the best?
I am building a mild 406 mainly for cruising on the street and mild towing (it's in a 93 Chevy 1500 shortbed P/U). I haven't picked a cam yet but it is going to be for low end torque probably in the range of 1000-5500 RPMs.Heads are Trick Flow super 23 195's. Comp should be9-9.5:1 . trans will be a bulit 700 R4 w/ 1500-1800 stall conv. (more than likely). Carbs I was thinking of using was either a Quick Fuel 650 or 680 Vac. , Proform 650 Vac. ,Demon 650 or Holley Street Avenger 670. I have used the Holley before but wanted to try something different.
Are any of these more superior to the other?
What are the adavantages vs. disadvantages to either of the carbs.
Has any body used any of these carbs? how did you like or dislike it?
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

You can find glowing reports and bashing rants on any of them.
The idea of a fuel bowl sight window instead of a sight plug is attractive. Demon and Quick Fuel use that type of bowl, not sure about Proform. I don't believe Holley has gotten on that bandwagon yet.
If you would like to be able to fine tune, a main body with screw-in air bleeds and metering blocks with screw-in restrictors are very nice.
