Um....i dunno, maybe??

ok so i have an edelbrock 1406 electric choke on my 350 right now and i noticed the other day i had it running with the hood up and i heard wat sounded like a vacumm leak. After some searching i came to a small air port next to the choke housing sucking air, shot it with a little carb cleaner and the motor sped up. Heres a link to a side pic of a 1406, the port i'm taking about is directly under the brass terminals for the wires on the choke. Is it supposed to be sucking in air?? If not what do i use to plug it?? Thanks

Just looked at mine - I have the same hole, but never noticed it sucking air - now I'm gonna have to check it after dinner.

Re: Um....i dunno, maybe??

It's a vent for the choke piston, having a small amount of air flowing through it is normal.

Re: Um....i dunno, maybe??

But it seems to be pulling air into the engine, when i shot it with carb cleaner the motor did speed up. Still normal??
