Holley Spreadbore

i found a old holley spreadbore that my old man used to run on his chevelle with a 307 before he put a big block in it. i believe its around a 80-82. i was thinking about rebuilding it and throwing it on my z28 when im rebuilding my qjet. Are there any inherent design flaws with these? how well do they run when properly tuned?

Re: Holley Spreadbore

All of Holley's spreadbore carbs are low-performance replacements for emissions applications.

Re: Holley Spreadbore

Holley stopped production of their spreadbores a long time ago with good reason. Someone may want it for retro, but the smart move is to get rid of it even if it is free and get a Q-Jet or even a square bore Holley or Edelbrock. BEST is properly tuned Q-Jet!!!

Re: Holley Spreadbore

Yeah, i had one of those. Mine was the 4165 (Double Pumper). In rebuilding it, i didn't really see alot of differences in it and a standard Square Bore. The only thing i can see that makes it different is the base plate. In fact, the rebuild kit looked just the same with the exception of the main body gaskets. I didn't run the carb though. a friend of mine scooped it up after i Rebuilt it. He's gonna use it on his 4x4.
