adjustable fuel pressure regulator question!
Hey peeps...first of all, glad to be here, hope to get some help from all you guru's out there!
The problem I'm having is as follows...I purchased a 1990 dodge dakota a few months ago, which had a carbed 1987 3.9 V6 installed. The past owner had the power to the intank pump (90 gas tank) disconnected and installed a small carter fuel pump on the rail! (the return line was also plugged by owner). The carb needed to be rebuilt ( Holley 390 cfm 4bbl 4160 model). So i took it to my mechanic and what he did was... removed the carter pump, installed a bosch mechanical fuel pump. I rebuilt the carb, but it was still in hard looking shape, so I decided to hold off and buy a new holley carb. I never got a chance to talk to my mechanic being that he is on a 6 month vacation...so I just got it towed back to my house! So here is where I am now...I purchased a dead head style fuel pressure regulator. (regardless if the mechanical pump is pushing out what i need, I want the option to adjust if needed). The regulator is not a bypass style. The bottom reads "IN" and the left and right side read (out). I'm not really sure how to hook it up if my mechanic has the return line working now! I was told by a friend that "You don't necessarily need a return, you could put a tee before the regulator then plumb a line from the 2nd out back to the tee"...which totally confuses me! So what I did was snap a few pics and posted them online. Maybe someone here could tell me what my mechanic did?
1st pic-Why does the fuel filter have a hose in the center?
2nd and 3rd pic-are one of those lines the return?
4th pic- old regulator(junk).
5th pic-what are the two lines coming out?
If someone could give me some positive feedback on how/where I begin... it would be fantastic! I have the carb and regulator in my garage and ready to go! This is all new to me.....so sorry if they are stupid questions!!

Re: adjustable fuel pressure regulator question!
I don't think there should be any regulator at all required with that pump.
On that happy note though, I'm going to have to close this since we only deal with third-generation Camaros and Firebirds on this site. Good luck.
