Throttle Position Sensor

I have an 83 with the 305 feedback q-jet. Recently I rebuilt the carburetor because she was running rich (o2 code/terrible gas mileage). Did the dip and all. Came out looking great. I was in a rush putting it back together and I snapped the TPS plunger, so I bought one and had to waited to throw it in. Idles fine, accelerates great and overall sounds like it is in running correct. But,now I'm getting the TPS out of range/low voltage codes. It only comes on when I accelerate slowly and use low throttle ranges.

It is an Autozone part(TPS100) so it is very likely it could be bad. Anybody experienced in the CCC carb world like to enlighten me on my situation? Resistance the sensor should be at? I get bummed every time that check engine light pops on.

Thanks!

Ya initially I did a search and came up short handed but I dug in a little deeper and I think I found what I'm looking for.

Re: Throttle Position Sensor

Assembling the airhorn assy. onto a CC-Qjet is tricky. It's easy to wedge the TPS dowel/plunger or get the TPS adjustment "hook" pushing on parts of the TPS body it shouldn't. Takes a little practice. Some stiff grease on the dowel/plunger to hold it up in it's hole in the airhorn casting before you flip it right-side-up to put it on the carb can be a big help.

Re: Throttle Position Sensor

You probably just need to adjust the TPS. Should be about .48 at idle and raise steadily up to 4+ at WOT.

haha yeah You called it. I didn't know those guys needed adjusted. It is now got a little hicup at a certain throttle degree. I need to go through and double check all of the adjustments.
