going to carb what wires to remove
going to carb what wires to remove
hey,i have been trying to find a definite answer on the forum, but i cant seem to find one.as the title says, i have pulled the stock motor out of my 88 GTA, and i pulled the ecm,and the wiring harness from the fender, but now im stuck with a whole mess of wires that i no longer need. what im wondering,is what wires do i need to keep. i have the connector for the alternator which has a tan/white line, black and red wire(where do they all go?). the starter wires. wiper motor connector plugged in. blower motor plugged in. removed cruise control. im going to put aftermarket gauge cluster in place of digital dash so that wont be needed anymore along with all the rest of the sending unit wires, but i need to keep my heat/ac,blower motor controls. fog lights. headlights tail lights, turn signals, power windows, mirrors, locks hatch release. and im going to run the electric fans to my own relay. so what the hell wires can i remove. theres a couple thick orange wires. and a few that plug into the battery cable directly. any help GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks in advance

Re: going to carb what wires to remove
your in the wrong thread, I did this about 6 months ago to my 87 firebird. My harness was hacked up bc someone stole my motor/trans and left me with a hacked up harness and car.
Go to the electronics section i think. U dont need anything on the pass side. u need whats coming out of the bulkhead connector on the driver side by the brake booster, that has your 12v for inside lights, starter/ignition wire to the starter and everything else like headlights etc. study the stock wiring diagrams in manuals and become best friends with a meter

Most pass side wires come out - can remove the entire harness and sell it to recoup some cash. A few of the pass side wires run to the drivers side through the rear loom, snake those out to keep the TPI harness in tact and sellable with it's ECM.
ALL driver's side wires are needed - these are lights, charging, fuse panel, guages, etc. wires.
