How much nitrous can I give this mystery motor?
How much nitrous can I give this mystery motor?
I have an L82 block bored to a 355, with a mild cam, intake, and edelbrock carb. I believe its a four bolt main block. I know my details are vauge at best, but does anyone know how much I can spray it? Somewhat safely? Thanks!

Iunno... prolly handle that at least part of one run.
Who knows.
It's ALL "pushing your luck". Comes down to, risk vs reward.
Only one way to find out.

How good are you at nitrous tuning?
What's the top ring gap?
Forged pistons? cheap cast? hypereutectic cast?
How well do you trust the build of the shortblock? If you don't know, assume it's less than factory quality; most are.
You've asked a totally open-ended question. That's why you're not getting any serious responses. From the limited info you've provided, I wouldn't say more than a 100 shot at this point.

I know it's open ended. Pretty sure it's a solid build but nothing special. I was thinking of trying 100 originally but a friend of mine was saying it can probably take 150-200. I was skeptical. (used to be his motor) It's got
Like 10k on it, probably nothing special in the bottom end.

Re: How much nitrous can I give this mystery motor?
My setup wasnt built with nitrous in mind. I have hypereutectics with a normal ring gap. I dont consider my motor throwaway garbage, so I was gonna limit it to around a 75 shot. I would be very careful near 100 and never beyond that. But I decided against doin the nitrous thing anyway.
If you dont really care if you blow it up. I'd throw 100 at it and call it a day.But Im not a nitrous expert by any means. I just researched it enough to find out that I wasnt interested anymore.

Im not into the whole nitrous thing bit I have a set up collecting dust so I figured I'd throw it on. It would be a rare occasion if I spray it. I'll stick with a 100 shot
