trouble with floats

So I had my car on a dolly for a 230 mile trip. I think some how the floats got messed up on the primary. If I have the fuel pump on and the bowl fills up I see a bronze piece in the window and then fuel just poors out pf a stem piece. Car runs horrible obviously when bowl it filled, with the pump off it runs smooth.

I have a new quickfuel 750 q series carb, any tricks I can do to fix this, or do I have to dismantle the carb? Am on my phone so search feature is hard to use, sorry if the question was asked already

Take the bowl off, disassemble the float/needle/seat, clean out any debris in the inlet/seat, and check for damage to the float/needle/seat.

Do you have filters in the bowl inlets?

Re: trouble with floats

No clue about a filter in the bowl inlet. Only filter I know of is the one I put in the rear of the car after my electric fuel pump. Update..... I ran the car out of gas twice in the carb, shook it around, and hit with a rubber maker. The primaries don't fill up like they used to and the car runs. I still see the float though, I don't remember but should the float be on top of the fuel, or laying in the window sideways . Let me know if you need pictures. I have yet to final tune this car, so it falls on it's face at wot for a moment. Wondering if it's the floats doing it, I don't remember it running this bad before the trip on the dolly

Ok that lasted about 15 miles.....

The front bowl piece, is it the front four 7 or 8m bolts? Is the gasket reusable?

Almost sounds like the pump is pushing too hard. Do you have a pressure regulator any where in the fuel line? Pics would be helpful.

Gaskets should be reusable. I have the blow-thru model and the gaskets are reusable. I agree with NC, do you have a return style regulator?

Mallory regulator, 7 psi pressure. The floats are stuck. I have yet to take it apart to fix it tho

Re: trouble with floats

takes all of 10 min to pull the bowls off. and clean out the needle and seat and make sure the float isnt bent or anything. if its just the primaries you dont even have to take the carb off the car.
