Running rich with holley carb.
Running rich with holley carb.
I know yall have heard this problem plenty of times but i haven't been able to find a straight forward answer yet. I just bought a 86 camaro z28 305. The previous owner already installed a 4 barrel holley carb.( I'm not sure which model). Its running a little rich and I'm assuming it has the automatic dist is the culprit. Any advise on how to transfer it to a vacuum instead or tune the carb or any other advise will help.
It also has a automatic choke that doesn't seem to want o open the choke.
Thanks in advance

The original distributor did not have vacuum or mechanical advance built into it. You need one that has vacuum and mechanical advance. Then tune it like the old non-computer carb setups, not like a computerized one.
The original carb only had one wire going to the choke thermostat with 12 volts when the engine is running and alternator charging. Most aftermarket carb chokes have a power and ground terminal. The original choke heater wire needs to go to one of the choke thermostat terminals, and the other terminal needs to be grounded.
