TBI throttle cable troubles with Summit throttle cable bracket?
Hey guys, this might be a little hard to explain but here it goes. I've read time and time again that the factory TBI throttle cable works and mine did with my cheapo Spectre bracket. I recently bough the billet Summit bracket for my Holley 650 DP. Here's my problem. I have the bracket adjusted all the way towards the firewall and have my cable hooked to the throttle linkage on the carb where I had it with my old bracket. My throttle cable is not opening my carb all the way now. Here's the thing, with the cable all the way to the back of the bracket, and my cable attached to the throttle linkage, I can still pull out about 1 1/2" of slack... Do I need to cut my cable back this amount to get the carb to open all the way. The spectre bracket was about that much further back than the summit bracket goes.
Let me know, I'm debating on cutting the steel cable and crimping it back that 1 1/2".
Thanks,

Things I have never used/done:
- Spectre cable bracket
- Summit billet bracket
- TBI throttle cable
- Cut back and crimped a throttle cable
Having said all that, as long as you're sure you haven't overlooked something, it should be fine to cut back and crimp the throttle cable.

Re: TBI throttle cable troubles with Summit throttle cable bracket?
I might have to cut back the actual wire of the cable and crimp it onto something. I'm just hesitant due to so many guys using the TBI cable fine. The only reason I think something isn't correct is when I have the bracket mounted and the cable connected to the carb linkage, I can still pull over an 1" of slack out of the throttle cable from the fire wall (so the cable extends further towards the radiator. I'm under the understanding that this cable needs to be tight with no slack, then mounted to the carb linkage. Is this correct? If so, cutting the cable would work in my opinion.

The only thing that matters is if the carb goes wide open when you floor the accelerator pedal. How much slack it has closed is irrelevant. If it is almost open but not quite when floored, you can bend the accelerator pedal a little to get more pull (LS1 swappers do it all the time - that IS something I have done - twice).
I have heard of throttle cables with a crimped end coming loose (on motorcycles).

I've heard of guys using this same bracket with the TBI cable. I'm just wondering why mine will not work. I'm really hesitant to hack off 1 1/2" of the cable and crimping on another end.
