1988 L98 cam
1988 L98 cam
Hey guys, i posted this in the General engine/tech board too but i figured you carb'd guys will be able to answer it since it apploes.
My dad's got a project 1940 ford tudor sedan and back in 88 he bought a complete engine/tranny/ecu out of a wrecked iroc with about 1500 miles on it, well now that we're getting to the engine part of it and looked at what a mess running wires for the TPI was going to be he's decided to go with a carb.
Our question has to do with a mechanical fuel pump, we need to know whether or not our cam has the lobe for a mechanical pump or if we've got to use an electric pump and a fuel pressure regulator.

Appreciate the quick response, we put a push rod in it earlier before checking the site and found it to move about a quarter inch in and out when turning the engine over by hand. That sound about right for the lobe?
Thanks,
Pat

Re: 1988 L98 cam
I actually did an even trade, all my TPI stuff for all the stuff i need to get it carbed, however the company i made the deal with uses their own harness, so they will still have mine sitting around and i'm sure they would sell it. It's a company down here in San Antonio called Fuel Injection Specialties, great people, here is their website http://www.fuelinjection.com/
I'd call and talk to to the woman that owns the company, her name is Tracy Meinert and you can call them at 210-654-0774. Just ask if the harness that Pat brought in is still available.
