I daily drove Nitto 275/60 (28' tires) on my car for almost 2 years. They handle like crap, but they only rub a couple spots on the insides of the fenderwells a very minor amount and only under certain circumstances (Hitting a BIG bump, car full of people etc), at least on stock ride height.

As for fitting actual 10" wheels I believe it can be done without tubbing/modifying the wells but It's kind of a touchy subject. I went with 8" wheels so never read much into it.

15x10 wheels I believe can be done without modifications to the wells but I believe with the backspacing required to make it work, your tires could stick out past the fender flares (especially with fatties). Again, I didn't do alot of research into the 10" wheel subject so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I'd hop on the wheels and tires board and do some digging. You should be able to find your answer there.

Quote: My all-GM internals, stock tune LS1/4L60E has run 12.0's with nothing changed from its daily driver configuration but slicks on the back. It idles smoothly and gets mileage that rivals the LG4 than ran a best of 16.0.

Why would you bother with a Gen I SBC?
I tend to agree, but I have had some good running Gen1E engines. The newer stuff does not have the torque output of the olders at lower engine RPMs, but for a lightweight car absolutely.

My brother and I used a stock L33 5.3 in his 1980 Corvette. We are running the Edelbrock Performer RPM dual plane intake and MSD built Edelbrock controller with a Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. Through a set of WS6 LS1 exhaust manifolds and stock L82 exhaust system. The car has a TH350 with the stock 1,500 rpm stall in it. We put a set of comp springs and harland sharp 1.8:1 rocker arms on it that I found new in the box cheap on craigslist. The car came stock with 3.4x gears in it. It is an absolute BEAST on the street and still gets 18-19 mpg running 70 mph @ 2,800 rpm on the highway. With some tweaking to the holley and the ignition timing pills I am sure it will get better.

What kind of mods did you have to do to the wheel wells to run those? Are you using offset control arms?

Also, where did you find the transmission specialties windshield banner? I've been debating getting one for mine.

Re: 12 second NA carb'd 305 help
I got the banner from Justin (fast383).

The inner fenders have been kidded quite a bit. Offset lcas, bump stops removed and hammer on the front where the lca mount is

Yeah see I didn't want to go through all that for a car that RARELY sees any track use except to periodically track upgrade progress, so I just went with 15x8s. Really love the look with the 5.5" backspacing though. Wider rear tires look awesome when they're flush with the fender flares
