FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS

I have a Racetronix 255 Walbro fuel pump setup on my 383 camaro. It use to be TPI so now that I switched it to CARB now I need to change the fuel pump. I am going with a Holley Blue Fuel Pump as it one of the best recommended. My question is what all can I sell from my old build. I paid 279.99 for my Racetronix kit and want to sell it if anyone is interested just PM me and we will get it done. Or text me 7026351446. Thanks

No need to change the pump.

Instead of that, install a Mallory 4309 regulator.

the 4309 will save you the trouble and money of getting a new pump.

Yea thats what I was thinking. That AFPR is 109. Not only that but I was told that the fuel pump with mess up as its usually a 43.5 psi and it will be held down to a 7 psi that I need for my 750 holley carb. and the pump is the same price which is best.

You need a new circle of friends.

The pump will simply put out a constant volume at low pressure. It won't be dead-headed down to 7 psi if you use the 4309. Dead-heading it would kill it, but a return style reg like the 4309 won't do that.

Enough people on here have done this very thing that you don't have to accept the inexperienced advice you're getting elsewhere.

Okay well I am wondering if anyone can respond that has done it with a Walbro or something like it and if there pump is still good? If yes how long has t been running? Sorry I just want to make sure and I mess up going HSR and blew a piston an all. Thanks

okay guys I need some help now again. I followed your guys choice and im having problems with the reg that its not consistant. Not only that but my fuel lines are hot as hell. I am thinking its from the fuel being pushed at 43psi down to 7psi. This is messing up my motor, it acts weird at launch and im probably going with a holley red. Thats the question which is better red at 7psi with line pressure of 5psi or blue at 14psi with line pressure of 9psi. What do you guys think.

Not consistant as in fluctuation according to a fuel pressure gauge? And which lines are heating up? One running to the fpr or the one running to the carb or one running to the return?

Look at it like this, the pump is "capable" of producing more than 43PSI. On your system, the regulator will only be forcing it to produce about 7PSI which is much less work for the pump. Your pump should last much longer. All the excess fuel returns to the tank as it did before. Since your engine should be consuming roughly the same amount of fuel as before, there is really no difference in what is happening to the fuel. If it's being heated now by circulating thru the fuel rails and the muffler heating the fuel tank, then it was doing it before and you just didn't notice. Do you have the factory heat shield installed that goes between the muffler and the tank?

EDIT: I will concede that at the lower pressure, the pump might be circulating more gallons per hour than it was before. It is my understanding that this could lead to wasted fuel as it evaporates into the tank from being heated.

Also keep in mind like five7kid said, it's not like the 4309 is dead headed to 7psi. A constant volume is still being put out. The reason I asked about the fluctuation is because the only way to truely tell is with a fuel pressure gauge..If there's fluctuation seen on the gauge then there's a number of things that could be going wrong but the 4309 is used so widely on here that it's probably not the regulator itself.
