Holley 4160 and Fuel Filter
My 4160 came without a fuel screen (#26-141) or the bronze/spring type (162-500) in-carb filter. While I've always run a canister/paper filter after the pump, I wonder if I'd be well served to use the 26-141 as a precautionary measure. Any thoughts?
BTW, I haven't been able to find a picture of the 26-141 to save my backside. If anyone has a pic....

Re: Holley 4160 and Fuel Filter
Can't hurt. I've got a piece of rubber line between my filter and the carb inlet, and had no carb filter. Have had pieces break off the inside of the line a couple times, and get caught in the float valves with the resultant flooding problems. So I fitted a bronze filter last carb overhaul. If I was real smart, I'd get rid of the rubber line, on the to-do list

Holley warranty requires you to run the bowl inlet filter regardless of any other filtration you may have.

I agree with the two above. Even though you have a filter in line, you still can get materials post filter get into the carb and mess things up. Not only have a float stick like mentioned above but material can get stuck in the bleed lines or boosters and cause tuning issues.
TreeFiddy - you should check into getting the teflon coated fuel lines. They cost more but they last longer and stand up to the additives and new fuel blends better than the old rubber/braided fuel lines.

Yeah I should look into doing something. It's a yearly 'summer tuneup' ritual now to replace the rubber line, with another chunk cut from the cheap roll I bought, hanging on the same nail on the garage wall for years. Think I'd have learned eh

Interesting to note that Holley says to remove the inlet filter under race conditions.
I'm not currently running the 26-141 filter shown below (for the first time anywhere as far as I can determine), but I may throw it in as soon as I get the choke/fast idle adjusted to my satisfaction.
