350 carb and 4speed tranny
ok, im 19 and i have 3 years of experience and training but i need help with something. i just bought my second 3rd gen. it is a 83 camaro and the guy has a 4 speed stick in it. i believe it had a 5 speed stick originally due to the shift pattern sticker under the shifter. i havent gotten to running the VIN numbers yet. but anyway it has no engine as of now but i have a 350 carb. engine and im wanting to put it in the camaro. the previous guy said it had the 305 TPI in it before. what all do i need to do to put that 350 in the car. as in any computers? or is it just plug and play. and will the 4 speed tranny bolt right up to the 350 and act correctly? any info will help
thanks!

Pull out the ECU in there and compare that part number to TPI ECU part numbers found on this site. This will let you now if the guy did a complete TPI swap into the car.
Otherwise, 83's did not come with TPIs stock. They were either carb or crossfire (TBIish). Again, compare your ECU to part numbers found on this site.
Your 350 SBC should swap in no problem. What year is it? 86+ or 85 down?
Worst, you will have to change your starter, flywheel, and/or clutch. If the stock 83 clutch is on there, I believe it should be a 10.4/10.5 disc and you will need a 153 teeth flywheel. The crank mounting bolt pattern on the flywheel will need to match the type of block you have (one piece or two piece rear main seal). And you have to check if you have staggered or straight pattern starter mounting bolts on the block.
Also if it's a later year block, make sure you have provisions for mechanical fuel pump if you want to run carb.

There was a "cross fire" TBI in '83, but not the single TBI of '88-'92.
And, '86 Firebirds didn't have 350's. So, while it may have come out of an '86 Firebird, it didn't come in an '86 Firebird. Or, if it did come in an '86 Firebird, it isn't a 350.

Post the part numbers of the computers you have. Also, post some pics of your car.

82 is a classic. You don't 'need' a computer with a carb. The four speed should bolt right up. I have some parts for that setup... flywheel, hurst shifter, holley fuel pump!!!
