'88 Formula carbureted?
Ok so I have a 88 firebird formula 5.0, I just bought a 350 vortec out of a 99 Yukon ... It's fuel injected, my problem is I bought it because the cover over my filter says "FUEL INJECTION" , but everyone is telling me that my year firebird is carbureted and will cost a lot to swap it or change intakes, can someone please reassure me that this will be a "SIMPLE" swap. Thanks - kush Barnes , President @over the limit CC

Should start your own thread as well, instead of hijacking this one.

Moved to its own thread.
I'm afraid there are people that can't tell the difference between a carb and TBI. But, don't want to assume anything...
Now, to your question: '88 3rd gens did not have carburetors. None of them. So, your car is either TBI or TPI. Swapping your current system over to the Vortec is possible, but be aware that the Vortec engine uses a different type of intake than 1988 model year V8s did. You'll need either a Vortec intake manifold (if TBI - I'd suggest going to the TBI forum and looking over the info there), or a Vortec base (if TPI). If your car has TPI, then you're probably better off for the Vortec swap.
Whatever you do, keeping the Vortec EFI is probably the WORST possible choice.
