hi there. i have an 84 z28ho. when it starts up cold it idles high for a few minutes and doesnt settle down until i kick the throttle a few times. i know this is supposed to do this but i was wondering if theres any way of disabiling it. So far ive only found the solenoid or whatever off the side of the carb to manipulate, only after ive removed the air cleaner. Thx

Why would you want to disable it?

Re: high idle fix? ?
Because it rarely calms down and i live a quiet neighborhood. So usually it climbs up to like 2500k rpm. I usually have to pop the hood, remove the air cleaner and push the tab down so the engine will settle. Open exhaust also. i just want to be able to start the damn car and have it idle normaly lol

Why not adjust your choke linkage and high idle for correct fast idle speed and action? and/or fix whatever is wrong with it?

I suppose that would take more effort than simply removing it and enduring the driveability issues though.

Buy a 4cylinder car with 2 cats, a resonator and a muffler. It's a Camaro, not a minivan.
