Carb cfm question for engine swap

I've searched previous threads, and I think this question is deemed worthy of asking, as I haven't found too clear of an answer. I'm swapping out my 305 which redlines at 5000, and dropping in a 350. I am wondering what defines the red line so I can accurately determine what carb to go with. I am thinking Holley DP 650cfm is just fine and dandy, but if my redline is still 5000 It seems as though it would be too big. Is this something that can be remedied by tuning? Also does the type of intake manifold I go with matter as well? Sorry if this is beating a dead horse but I can't seem to find this anywhere! Cheers!

Your "red line" is just a line on a guage man, it means zip.
What cam, heads, compression, exhaust, valvetrain, rotating assembly etc etc.....this will determine where your shifting it at.

Depending on all of that will decide proper Carb selection. And yes....as the intake is what the Carb is bolted to, it makes a difference lol.

Re: Carb cfm question for engine swap

A 400 cubic engine will flow 600 cfm at 6000 rpm so you should be fine with a 650

Awsome, thanks for the help! That's pretty much what I figured, I just want to make sure before I start working on the top end that I'm not messing up something critical!
