I don't understand why people seem to have so much trouble with the E4ME. I've had two cars with them, one with a 350 - just set everything to the factory settings and they both ran great.

Unless you have an aftermarket intake manifold (you didn't say), you'll need an adapter between the Edelbrock and stock spreadbore intake.

You'll need a "geometry corrector" bracket to bolt onto the carb throttle arm for the TV cable to connect to.

You'll need some means of locking up the torque converter clutch - either a kit that's available from a few different aftermarket outfits, or a manual switch that you flip on in cruise conditions.

Re: rochester to edelbrock
Rochesters are WAY better than Eddy carbs. People are afraid of them, but when tuned properly run great.

I'd personally stick with the Rochester. Rebuild it and go burn up tires!

Rochester's where the ticket back in the day. Still think they are a great carburetor.

People are weary of them because of their design, but with a little self-education you can make them run great.

I agree that the Rochester is a great carb. I had no knowledge of them before getting my car. With a little education through books and You Tube, I was able to tear down and rebuild the E4ME with confidence. For as much as you're going to spend on the new Edelbrock, (which you're going to need to learn about anyway) get to know your Rochester. They are both pretty much the same design.

Agree with others, Great carb, much better then the Old edelbrock repacakged carter.

You will have to spend more to get your trans to work right as stated, not too mention your car will no longer be emissions legal.

I would totally keep a Q jet. maybe swap the E4ME for a M4M. I Think they are easier to mess with.
