Switching booster vacuum to manifold
Ive been having problems with my brake booster vacuum. Already have a vacuum canister and improved but not enough. I currently have the vacuum line connected to the back of the carb and want to switch it over to the intake manifold since ive heard good results. I am running a ulta holley double pumper carb with rpm air gap intake. I have no clearance to install the 90 degree fitting. What size of carb spacer would i need in order to have clearance for the fitting? I am using stock hood so that can be another clearance issue. Thanks in advance
Re: Switching booster vacuum to manifold
They make a low-profile 90* fitting for such applications.
Let me guess. Holley carb on an Edelbrock intake, right?
For future reference, Weiand has direct competitors to every Edelbrock intake (they work just as well or better) and they put the manifold vacuum fitting in a location where it doesn't interfere with the rear fuel bowl of a Holley carb.
Edelbrock intentionally puts the port where it will interfere with the installation of a Holley-style carb. Why? They want you to use an EDELBROCK carb, of course!

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-8096 There you go
This one might work too http://www.summitracing.com/parts/prs-1043/overview/
I don't think you will see any benefit from going from back of carb to intake. I tried that one mine and it didn't help a bit. I was also using a vac can at that point too. I ended up just swapping to manual brakes.
Oh and you can just put a pipe plug in that hole and drill you a new hole and tap it with 3/8 NPT tap anywhere on the runner
