Clogged fuel lines might cause lean condition?

So here's where I am on trying to get my Camaro running well. It is running lean for some reason... possibly I'm not getting enough pressure or flow to the carb? A few questions-

Will replacing the fuel pump maybe help? I was under the impression these pumps don't die slowly, rather they crap out on you suddenly...

Can I blow compressed air through the lines that go to (and from) the pump? I figure that may help clear the crap out, if there is any. One troubling sign- when I replaced the filter at the carburator, it had some rust bits in it. Not good.

Is there a filter sock inlet or something of the sort I can get to that might be clogged up? If possible, I'd like to avoid dropping the tank- please let me know what you think- thanks! J-

Low float level in the carb will cause a lean mixture. A vacuum leak will do the same thing.

Restrictions in the fuel system (of any description) will typically only be noticable under load. If the car takes off like crazy under WOT and then suddenly "hits a wall" that can be fuel restriction. If it's just lean when cruising at part throttle, that's NOT a fuel restriction issue.

stick a magnet on the bottom of the gas tank. that will help keep rust away from getting in the fuel delivery system.

Damon, the dang thing is the same as when you drove it. I guess I'm just stabbing in the dark about a fuel delivery problem... it doesn't die when the throttle is open, it craps out when warm and idling. I replaced the O2 sensor, cleaned and reinstalled the EGR, and I think the ECM is OK... I also don't think I have any major vacuum leaks. Recently I replaced fuel filter, plugs, wires, dist. cap. I like the magnet idea also, that would probably help a lot.
