Help needed please
Hello everyone this is my first time here! I own a pontiac firebird 1991 v8 -305 recently i started to face a very annoying problem, i can't accelerate my car everytime i step on the gas pedal the rpm goes to 3k and then it chokes up, ive changed the MAP but the problem still the same, even though i removed the catback and put a straight pipe, one thing if the car is on parking or neutral and i rev slowly i can get the RPM high.
I tried to attach the videos but it kept saying its not supported.
Please if anyone can help.
Thanks in advance

Re: Help needed please
It is a fuel delivery problem.
Replace the fuel filter, check the fuel pressure, etc. The problem might be that it needs a fuel pump but you should check the other simple things first and not assume that it's the pump before eliminating all those other things first.
It doesn't have a carburetor unless someone has swapped one onto it. It should be fuel injection. It would help to tell us which injection system it has; it will be either throttle-body injection or Tuned Port Injection.

Most Chevy's I've driven that have had a failing fuel pump just run slow. Not saying it's not a fuel pressure issue, though. First thing I'd check for would be vacuum leaks. Unmetered air will make the engine run lean and could contribute to your problem.
Of course, there are other things as well--how's your timing set up?
Edit: For some reason I was thinking FI--this is the "Carb" section--duh!
What carb are you running? What metering rods are you running in the secondaries? Is your fuel return functioning?

Hello! It have the TBI system but thanks again
Ill check the fuel pressure and the fuel filter and the fuel pump!
Ive removed the catalytic and had to cut the air pressure pipe is this can be related to the problem?

No.
It is a fuel delivery problem.
Focus on the fuel system.
