Still having the same problem, and i'm just about ready to give up.
here is where i'm at,
i've taken the starter to autozone to have it tested, and it's SUPPOSEDLY good,
i've done the same with the battery,
i changed the ignition switch on the steering column,
changed the battery posts.

The car gets power, lights come on, makes the buzzing when i turn the key , but when i try to start it, NOTHING, no clicking, not a damn thing,

i'm fresh out of ideas, does ANYBODY have any clues, suggestions or ideas????

I agree with Ede, check the park or clutch safety switch. If this isn't working properly, you'll get power to everything like normal but the starter will not even attempt to crank because the system "thinks" your in gear.

Do you have an auto or manual tranny?

If you have an auto transmission put the car in N and see if it starts. The neutral safety switch should allow it to start in N if that’s the problem. I would also check to see if the battery cables are good. The cables can get burnt internally and will not feed enough juice to the starter.

no, hadn't checked the alternator, i figgered the problem was not in the charging system,, YET, since i couldn't get the starting system to work correctly, but i'm not ruling that out either, thanks!

I'm probably going to sound like a moron for saying this but have you checked all the fuses yet? I had something similar to this and all it was, was a damn fuse.

Good luck.

Did the car ever have an alarm system on it with a starter interupt relay? I recall there is a guy around here that had a similar problem and that is what it turned out to be.

any suggestion is golden to me at this time, i checked the fuses initially, and they seemed fine, but i'll go ahead and try that again just to be safe, in response to wiggy'sIROC , no the car never had an alarm system on it, i inherited it from a friend, i do remember having to use a screwdriver to start it in the past on the starter so i dunno, we'll trudge on and see what we can find out, i think i'm going to go ahead and yank the starter again and check all the wiring make sure it's all kosher up under there, thanks again guys!
