cold air intake using tbi parts

Thinking about making a cold air intake system for my 86 using the air filter housing from a TBI car.
Anyone ever done this and if so..did it hurt performance?
Currently running an open air filter on it.

You mean like the factory from 82-87? The TBI aircleaner is 100% the same as what GM used on every carbed Camaro/Firebird from 82-87.

lol..my bad..TPI is what I meant. I have the filter housing that mounts above in front of the rad. I'm wondering if it would be to restrictive though.
