E4ME Carburetor Adjustment
86 camaro 305 v8 5.0l automatic transmission with e4me carburetor. Car hesitates and or stalls on acceleration. Car will bog / hesitate and stall after stopping at stop light. Changed Accelerator pump, changed Tps and new air horn gasket. Does anyone know what adjustment needs to be made to eliminate this problem? Thanks
PS did not change fuel filter.

Re: E4ME Carburetor Adjustment
Please someone here on TGO with an e4me carburetor help me out here. When I accelerate from a stop the car wants to stall out. On some occasion it has stall out from acceleration. I did change the fuel filter sprayed the carb down with carb cleaner changed the air horn gasket. Would this problem with slow acceleration and stalling out have to do with the mechanical fuel pump?

Re: E4ME Carburetor Adjustment
Yes it might.
Whatever the REAL problem is, "adjusting" on the carb IS NOT going to fix it. The "adjustments" of the carb didn't just suddenly "adjust" themselves out of the clear blue. "Adjusting" on them will only give you that many OTHER things WRONG with it, that you'll have to also repair whenever you fix THE REAL PROBLEM it has, whatever it is. Which sounds like fuel delivery.

Re: E4ME Carburetor Adjustment
you can test the fuel pump by disconnecting the line to the carb and observing how much it pumps with the engine running (motor will idle for a good while with the fuel bowl full)
first thing I would do though is carefully inspect all of the ignition components and/or replace the cap/rotor/plugs/wires if their age and condition were suspect. then go from there.

Re: E4ME Carburetor Adjustment
Update : replaced the airhorn on my e4me carburetor. Now car drives and runs like an F body Chevrolet should. Who knows what was wrong with the other airhorn. But thanks to all the replys.

Good to hear that. Glad it worked out.
That's a classic example of why we don't "adjust" a defective carburetor.
