Car will die in gear

I have a 92 Camaro. I recently swapped in a 350 from a 75 camaro with a Edelbrock 1405 carb. Motor was rebuilt 20 years ago and has not run in at least 10 years. Motor was never driven much after the rebuild. Been sitting up in the garage. It idles fine. When I put it in gear it will die. If I close the choke or give it a little gas it will stay running. Drives good with choke fully open. I have sprayed carb cleaner looking for vacuum leaks, changed all vacuum lines. Even plugged everything off and still same result. I rebuilt the carb and set the floats. I set the fuel pressure to 5 , 6, and 7 psi and no change. I put in a 2400 stall cause the cam does lope a little. No change. Thinking to try a Holly carb. Maybe change intake gaskets? Tired of spending money on this thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you can't choke the engine to stall, then it is getting air from somewhere, bypassing the carb. Carb base gasket, intake gaskets, vacuum brake booster come to mind.

Another possibility is to make sure the mechanical advance isn't advancing the distributor when in neutral. If it is, when you put it in gear and the RPM drops the advance might be retarding enough for it to stall.
