TPI Gone

I removed my TPI and installed a carb. I was told there is a wire to disconnect that will stop the computer from trying to talk to the distributor. Any idea what wire and it's location?

Re: TPI Gone

Let's say there is one and you disconnect it. What is controlling your advance curve now?

(What I'm trying to say is, you're either going to need a standalone ignition controller, or a distributor that can advance itself.)

Re: TPI Gone

Yup should get a mechanical advance HEI or other aftermarket programmable distributor. The TPI HEI is basically a locked out dist w/o input, so you have to go full advance all the time and that's not ideal for street. Unless that's what you want.
