Fuel sender length

Hello. I bought this sender from ebay for my 92 RS to convert to carb (since my tbi pump is dead). I already bought an external fuel pump from Holley, but i couldn't find an oem carb sending unit from an old camaro, so i bought one from ebay. It's an aftermarket unit made for a 79-86 suburban/blazer. My question is, will length be a huge problem if i swap this unit in?

Most of the sending units i've seen on the site are a bit longer.... Maybe I'm wrong.

Re: Fuel sender length

That won’t even fit in the fuel tank. The length and angle are both wrong. You’re better off brazing or using compression fittings to add an extension to your stock one to make it reach deeper. Here is my stock carb one with a longer return line to work with an external EFI pump.

Re: Fuel sender length

You might as well just buy a new in-tank pump and use a regulator since you have to pull it out either way.

Re: Fuel sender length

I finally had time to create another alien pump for my carb setup.

Wire shrouds look cracked, but i'm not sure what i should do with the wires that once connected to the tbi pump. I read on the pickup sticky that I should just leave it be. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Fuel sender length

Update:
Had to cut about an inch so the pickup can slide in with ease since it was too long at first. Did a small air compression test, and it's real tight! Thanks for the help.
By the way: it must be the beer, but the mutant of a pickup looks like this
