1983 camaro with 350 need help
Hey all. Newbie on this board. I recently purchased a 83 camaro that has 350 in it with a 700r4 tranny. Building for strictly drag racing. The car had sat since 2015. So here is my issue when the car is at idle or neutral and or even doing my burn out the car has a ton of power with no misfire. But once I start to actually go down the track I lose a ton of power. Feels like a misfire. Like it just bogs down. I’m truly thinking secondary ignition. Does anyone have any insight on this ? Greatly appreciated!!

Past that, you're going to have to provide much more specific information about your engine and what's controlling it.

i really don’t know much about the car yet. I was going to tear down the motor during the winter. I just got it two weeks ago and wanted to get it to the track to test it.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "secondary ignition" but that is not your issue. Neither is tearing down a running engine, if indeed it runs properly, which is questionable.
The carb needs to be tuned to the engine under load. Invest some time and money in an air fuel ratio gauge with wideband O2 sensor, jet and needle kit for your carb, and read the carb tuning manual for whatever brand it is. Make sure that you have the necessary fuel pressure and vacuum response for wide open throttle runs, and adjust from there.
There are so many resources out there for tuning and running chevy 350 engines now that research is going to solve 99% of the problems you encounter. Read, understand, and apply the knowledge with the understanding that you will never get it right the first time.
