Fuel line from carb won't line up with new fuel pump

Any recommendations before I have this thing towed to a mechanic? The original line from the carb will not line up with the new Carter mechanical fuel pump. I've tried bending but just can't make it work.

Yes. The OE AC pump goes back in perfectly but the Carter just doesn't line up the same. It's off by at least an inch or so and angled slightly differently. I've got a replacement coming today to see if it's any different.

Re: Fuel line from carb won't line up with new fuel pump

Got another Carter pump today and I was able to get it in. This one fought me as well but after some work, I got it in.

However, the fuel line now prevents the air pump bracket from fitting. I decided to throw a couple of washers on the bolts and run without the air pump for now. Now I have an issue when I plug the vacuum line from the air cleaner back into the carb. The car just dies if this is hooked back up. Runs fine with nothing there. I'm guessing it's a timing issue since I was toying with that when I noticed the fuel pump leaking.
