Holley 0-80570 fitment

I have had enough of the Quadrajet.

It needs to be gone through again (partly due to my inexperience). Currently the throttle shaft is hanging up - strange because I did install bronze bushings -.

If I’m going back in I’d replace the idle down tubes (I did reuse them after opening them up) and really their should’ve been more done…

anyway, I have a chance at a new Holley 0-80570 at a good price. Dual pattern edelbrock 2101 intake.

86 T/A, LG4 305, 204/214 with z28 springs, should be a good match?

Will the factory air cleaner clear the Holley carb?

No

Nothing else will really hook up "right" either, starting with the fuel line and the throttle cables

Which of course is NOT to say that it can't be done, or anything of the kind; only, it's NOT a bolt-up

Thanks Sofa. I was aware of the other issues but was hoping for the stock air cleaner.

Havibg said that, a 6210 would probably be too much on a 305? Doable but would require significant tuning?

Re: Holley 0-80570 fitment

It'd be fine. MUCH better choice. Of course it would need tuning; any and every carb does on any and every engine of any size, including the one you proposed earlier. Butt it wouldn't be "hard" to do that at all.

About the only downside of a manual secondary carb would be that you'd have to teach your driver not to stomp on the gas like a cockroach when the car is sitting still, butt rather kinda ease into it, since a man sec carb doesn't manage that FOR the driver to the extent a vac or demand sec one does. Kinda like, a manual transmission would require the driver to put it in the right gear and work the clutch suitably, unlike an automatic, which manages all that FOR them (at least partially).
