How hard to rebuild??

Hey guys well my carter 625 afb has gone down the crapper and needs a rebuild badly, i don't know when i'm gonna have enough money to buy a whole new carb, so i was just gonna rebuild it. How hard is it going to be, I've never fooled with carbs too much, but i was gonna buy a book or something that could help me out, think i would be able to pull this off? Thanks guys

I'm surprised no one has replied yet.

I don't have any first-hand experience, but from what I've heard from these boards and talking to guys that have them, they are one of the simplier carbs to rebuild.

Yes, buy a book. I have no idea which one you should, though.

That may not help much, but at least you're back to the top now...

The first carb I rebuilt was the Carter WCFB on the orginal 283 in the '57 (I had just turned 17 at the time). All I had to guide me were the instructions in the kit. It ran fine afterwards.

Believe me, a q-jet is a breeze compared to that carb. And, the AFB's are supposed to be even easier than a q-jet. If your report card ever said "Follows instructions well", you should be fine.

Absolutley the easiest carb to rebuild, probably don't need a book as long as you pay attention to how it came apart. I don't think there are more than 10-12 pieces inside of them. Don't worry about it, you will be surprised how little there is to it. Good luck!
