Need help picking carb

What I have is a stock 1970 Vette LT1 motor. Original aluminum intake. Right now it has a Holley 650 DP on it. This carb is worn out bad and is a real pain with my TH350 tranny. Im looking at either the Holley vacume sec 600 or 750 and the Eledlbrock Performer 600 or 750. Which brand is the better hcoice and which size? My motor is rated at 370 hp (using old ratings)

Thanks

I'm not a carb expert but there are a few here with the experience to back up their recommendations.

Holley 750 VC if you're using a high stall converter in the TH350(2800+) and will be turning high RPM often(5500+). Holley 600 VC for better street use and throttle response. Don't know much about Edlebrock or Carter carbs but I think the Holley is more tuneable and easier to tune.

I wish I had shelled out the cash for a Road Demon(625) or even better the Speed Demon 650 VC and/or a 3000 stall converter because my car is extremely mild. A mild small block will not stall a 2400 converter at 2400 RPM, not enough torque, more like 2000 RPM.

Any of the carbs you mentioned can be tuned to work well. Describe how you plan to use the car and you will receive better recommendations.

Have you looked at the Road Demon? It's rated at 625 cfm and is perfect for your application. Summit has them for like $299, so it maybe something to look at.

Good luck!

Anywhere from a 650-750 Holley VS would fit the bill great, unless you wanna shell out the extra cash for a Demon.

I have personally messed with both carb and have found the following.

If you are a hell of a tuner, and probably have a dyno or access to a drag strip you can probably gain a "couple" of HP out of a holley over edelbrock/carter. That is if you dont mind tunning it every other week.

If you are not drag racing i suggest an edelbrock/carter for street use. Besides their simple design they are easy to tune, and will "hold" a tune. And unless it is drop kicked and hit with a hammer it will be rebuildable to like new conditions. I cant say the same for holleys.

I really like both but it depend what you need it for. If you need a "couple" and I mean couple of extra horspower and need it go with holley. Take a holley and a carter/edelbrock out the box and bolt it on you would not notice to much of a difference.

Car: 82 Berlinetta/57 Bel Air
Engine: LS1/LQ4
Transmission: 4L60E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
That engine came from the factory with a 780 Holley vacuum secondary. The over-the-counter # was 3310, I believe the GM # was 3319.

It seems the 3310 is called a 750 these days. I had such a carb on an engine that was everything an LT1 except the displacement: it was a 327 block with a 283 crank, known at the time as a 302. It had the LT1 solid lifter cam and 2.02 angle plug heads (okay, 12.5:1 forged TRW's, but otherwise an LT1). The carb worked great on that engine, even though it was a little large for it.

The 3310 is the right choice for that engine.
