Does anyone one know how to decode the model number on the Rochester Q-jets. For example I have a 17083204. I know the 170 denotes the Rochester Company and the 83 is the year. The 2 is rumored to be emissions type whether CA or FE, but I don't know what # corresponds to what. The 0 is GM division? Finally the 4 is engine combination?

Great job Trnsam87. Thanks, now I know I have a 1983 Rochester built, 49 state emission compliant, 4 bbl Q-jet, manufactured for a Chevy engine with an automatic transmission.
