Slickrock55 and anyone else whose car won't start...

So I go out to the car this morning and it fires over. I idled/ran a little rough at first, but after a few revs and driving a few blocks down the street, it smoothed out a lot. In fact, I drove back to work around the corner from where it was at the gym, and I let it idle for a few minutes. It was the smoothest the idle has been in a very long time.

Some additional things: Last night the rubber 3/8" line that runs from the pump to the carb was stiff... assuming the fuel was under a bit of pressure after the car was off. This morning, it wasn't so stiff. I also advanced my timeing a little from about 8 to 10. And I had sprayed a bit of that carb cleaner down the intake last night. I don't know if any of this has any impact on how it runs now... or if it will continue to run tomorrow!

Novadude (my q-jet guru) says he runs the same Carter street pump w/o a regulator and no float adjustment and it works great. I agree that this car runs SO much better with the new pump... when it runs.
