Kinda new here, please help.....
This is my first post, so bare with me. I have an '87 Iroc that I swapped the 305TPI in favor of a '92 350 bored .040over, vortech heads, performer intake and 600 edelbrock carb, mild street cam, ACCELL HEI ignition. Exhaust is stock manifolds for clearance, 2.5in Y-pipe to 3" back to Flowmaster.
With this combo, it seems like it should scoot quite nicely, but guess what. Nothing sticks out as noticeably wrong. Anyone have any suggestions. Also, I can't find a bracket to hook up throttle and kickdown for 700R-4.

Check your local Schucks/AutoZone for a product by a company named Spectre for the bracket you need. I've included a somewhat fuzzy shot for you here...
also check the tuning on your Holley for kicks.

GM Vortec heads (I assume that's what you meant) + standard Performer intake = port mismatch. Maybe even vacuum leaks.
Stock exhaust manifolds + 2.5" y-pipe + high-flowing 350 (+ stock cat? You didn't say anything about it) = very restricted flow.
How much of the HEI ignition is Accel: The entire distributor, or just the coil/module/wires, etc.? Electronic control distributor + mechanical carb (as in your Edelbrock) = no ignition advance. That's just a wild guess; not that I assumed that you used the TPI distributor - had to ask, though.
Duffster, from what I thought you had said in other posts, you lengthened the arm on the carb for the TV cable, correct?

no...what I did was found a 'tab' that the cable connects to for the carb.
did not lengthen anything.

</marquee> I had basically the same combination as you. What is your timing set at? What jets and pv do you have in the carb. The jets for my motor were pretty lean, 65 and 69 if I remember correctly. I think that your exhaust is really the problem here. Definately hit up hooker for some headers. How much tuning have you done? It makes all the diference in the world.
