I have a 327 with 882 heads, Edelbrock manifold and Edelbrock 600 carb. Car is a 5-speed with 3.73's. Only thing I am doing is getting rid of the stock cam for a larger one.
I was thinking about using the CompCam 280H. It's 230/230 duration and .480/.480 lift on 112*lsa. I think this cam would work well, but it's kinda on the big side. What do yall think about it?
What kind of setups are you all running with the 305, 327, and 350 engines? What were your results?
Thanks!
Jason

Mods in sig. Idles at 500, pulls to 5600 (at least - until the shift kit is in, it shifts from 1st at 5600). Times in 12 days (I hope).
What manifold is that Edelbrock? What "stock cam" are you talking about?
The 280 cam isn't that big (a little bigger than my 216/228 @ .050:, .454/.480), but I'd highly recommend getting whatever springs and retainers Comp recommends using with their cam. It should run great if your exhaust is up to snuff.

My exhaust consists on headers with true duals, bullet mufflers, and dual hi-flow cats. It exits at the side rigth in front of the rear tires.

This is all on a 350. I just took it out today. It pulls very hard to 6700. I usually have to short shift 2nd, due to tire spin. With a 327, I look to make power a little higher in the RPM range. You can get good tq from them, but they perfrom better when they are spun a little higher. The cam you listed would be good. I would get an RPM, or X-Celerator intake though.

IF it starts floating valves, then I'll put on some springs. 0.480" lift is relatively low, so it should be alright. I am usually **** about these kinda things, but I'm on a tight budget now.

I just finished this engine, am installing hooker headers and 3" exhaust this weekend. I have not had a chance to run it yet, but will let you know how it works out.
