Strange Idle....
Strange Idle....
My car has started to idle strangly. When I first start the car it will idle normaly but after the engine is hot the RPMs will fluctuate between 1000 and 700 (in park). Which isn't that bad just anoying but now is has started to drop down to 400. In drive it fluctuates between 700 and 400 which is nearly stalling the engine. I also noticed the other day that the AMPs were fluctating with the engine staying at about 13 when the car was at 700rpm and dropping to about 5 when it was at 400rpm but I've only seen it do this once.
Anyone have any ideas?

sometimes a carb acting like that is nothing more than moisture or a little dirt clogging some passage or airbleed. Run carb cleaner through the whole thing to eliminate this possibility, then continue troubleshooting.
The ignition is a good place to start your checks.

Hey Phil. Did you try just leaning out the idle yet?
if so, Bring a can of carb cleaner to work on monday, with the straw..I'll show you the best way to blast that out. I can take a timing gun too...give us something to do at break.
BTW..I picked up some 4" exaust pipe yesterday

I'm gonna lean it out today and see if that helps any. I would do the timing but since I gave you my timing gun we can do that tomorrow.
where did ya get the 4" from? and did you get the heads on the block yet?
