Having terrible time getting holley 750 DP to idle and part throttle decent

My holley 750 double pumper i just put on my 383 stroker doesnt like to idle real well, and almost always dies when i put it in gear, ive tried everything. The floats look right, idle mixture screws look right. I dont think it has a vacuum leak.

Try opening up the secondaries just a bit. There is a screw on passenger side where you can open secondaries . This allows you to have to open primaries less. The more you open them the more they expose the transfer slots and then u loose the ability to adjust your carb with your mixture screws.

That's a good suggestion, above. I assume the thing is running rich as all-get-out, right?

What rpm do you idle it at. You might need to idle it up a little. If you don't have enough vacuum at idle the power valve could be open. Or it could be stuck or blown/leaking. If you can lean it out until it stalls at idle, you shouldn't need to mess with the secondaries.

Im idling the engine at a 1000. the cam is mild street/strip. When i pull it in gear it drops to about 800. I closed the secondaries up and now the car stays running in gear
