mileage
I have not seen many vehicle with mileage between 150K and 200K without having had the engine replaced or rebuilt. My point about the price I was making is that if you were to use the same pricipals as one would do for estinmating mileage per year the values would be zero. I'm not saying that the car is worthless. You seem to be confused. Now if my previous car had 24K miles on it and I'm sure you would all agree is low mileage, than what is 70K? To me that is average. I believe that there is more to the equation than you think, otherwise some of these older cars would be advertized with 300K average miles. Maybe I'm wrong in your opinion but this is what I truly believe. Take some time and look at the classifieds and read what other peoples interpretations are. Very similar. Sorry to have gotten into this pissing match with you guys, I have the right to defend myself. I'm still interested in a car with around 70K miles and in good condition with the $5k price range.
Thanks

mileage ages more than an engine. it works on the chassis, interior from getting in and out, electrical circuits, all that mumbo jumbo...
and 70k is still not average for a 3rd gen, whichever way you look at it...and i really dont think anyone on here would sell their good condition 3rd gen for $5,000 if it had 70k on the clock...
now replacing the engine is a different story, although it doesn't make the rest of the car "new", it does possibly add a small amount to the sell price....but not it's still a 130k mile car, with or without the new engine...a car just isn't the same as brand new by simply putting a new engine in it...

thats why you buy a car that is old but has good frame and redo it completely to your specs how ever you want it so that when something breaks down you dont plame anyone but your self. and its worth it to restore a car. makes you feel good when you drive it. check out the car im starting out with this is me second project my last project was a 72 nova that i sold for 7k.
